Hola mi Familia!!
What a crazy week
this week. We don't have many people to teach so we spent A LOT of time in the
street talking with people and knocking on doors. Well clapping because at most
houses here we clap in front of their house not knock. But anyways we have found
some great people and I honestly see a ton of potential here in this branch for
growth.
We met this
awesome young couple this week named F and H. They are awesome and
have known the missionaries for like a year now. They have a hard time going
all in to the church they told us. They are both working and studying. He is actually a pro soccer player here in Concordia and studying to be a chef (they
already said we are gonna go eat with them soon!) But I feel that we already
have a great relationship with them, and we will be able to help them
understand the "Why" of the church.
This week we ate
donuts!!! There is a sister in the branch who knows how to make them and they
invited us over for hot chocolate and donuts. It was amazing. We tried to make
them last night but they didn't turn out the best. we are gonna keep trying!
Yeah the world cup
is getting crazy, everyone is really getting into it. I really hope the US
plays against Argentina this Saturday. I would imagine that we would be locked in
our apartments for at least the whole day but we will see what happens. What a
fun way it would be to welcome the new mission pres in his first week right??
(secretly I'm cheering for the US but in a very quiet way)
This week I read
Alma 46 and it may be my new favorite chapter of the BOM. Captain Moroni is so
amazing!!! I love verse 15
15 And those who did belong to the church
were faithful; yea, all those who were true believers in Christ took
upon them, gladly, the name of Christ, or Christians as they
were called, because of their belief in Christ who should come.
Those
people truly understood the covenants they had made with the Lord. They were
HAPPY to be doing all of the things the Lord asked them to do and magnifying
their callings.
Then
verse 21
21 And it came to pass that when Moroni had
proclaimed these words, behold, the people came running together with
their armor girded about their loins, rending their garments in
token, or as a covenant, that they would not forsake the Lord their God; or, in
other words, if they should transgress the commandments of God, or fall into
transgression, and be ashamed to take upon them the name of Christ,
the Lord should rend them even as they had rent their garments.
They
were so converted that they truly felt ashamed when they were not doing what
they needed to be doing. If they sinned the felt the Godly Sorrow that is
needed to move on. But most of all, when their leader called, the CAME
RUNNING.
This
is something that we can ALL do a little better, strive to understand our
covenants as well and obey with exactness to the councils of the prophets and
leaders of the church.
Dad
I got another family this week that said you look like a young Elder Holland. I
was laughing so hard! "Elder your dad looks like an Apostle, but i cant
think of which one..." "Elder Holland?" "YES!! That's
it!" haha
Well
I am doing so well, i feel that the Lord has been blessing me beyond measure to
be able to learn and expand my understanding of the Gospel. I know that this is
the true church, that Jesus Christ lives and that He restored the church
through Joseph Smith! I love you all! Have a great week!!
